As part of the October 13th, 2006 SAFE Port Act, the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was signed into law. The UIGEA outlaws the transfer of funds from financial institutions to illegal online gaming sites. Bill Frist, along with some other right-wing assholes in Congress, is largely credited with tacking the otherwise unable UIGEA onto a bill that was sure to be voted through Congress.
